Policy Brief – Policy Recommendations for a Greener Film Sector: Lessons from Bitola and Sarajevo

Bitola Film Center and Obala Art Center through the “Green Film Cities: Empowering Sustainable Creative Cities” project, have published a new Policy Brief with key insights and recommendations for sustainable development in the film sector.

The majority of respondents from our research, more than 80%, indicated awareness of green or sustainable practices within the film and creative industries!? This finding represents potential among the cultural professionals for further adoption and accession of green practices in film industry.

🚩Poor awareness of environmental sustainability and environmental best practices within the film sector;
🚩Lack of government funding to support sustainability projects aiming to reduce the carbon footprint in the audio-visual production sector;
🚩Lack of reliable data about the number of audio-visual productions in each City of Film;
🚩Environmental sustainability is perceived to be expensive.
….are some of the key barriers identified on the Forum talks in Bitola and Sarajevo earlier this year.
